Michael Coffey was awarded the county player of the year in 1978 for the second year in a row.Michael was just as good a hurler as a footballer and he represented the county in all grades in underage in both hurling and football. Michael played on the county senior team in football for many years at centre field and was one of the best fielders of the ball in Munster. He even played for his beloved Stradbally at the age of 41 in 1990
